My story as a CMI intern
Hi! I’m Celine, the former CMI intern. I studied Business Administration with a major in Commercial Policy and joined Edgard & Cooper as a CMI intern because their story, values and overall vibe instantly clicked with me. It also felt like a place where you get real responsibilities instead of being parked in a corner with a lonely Excel sheet, turns out I was right!
My application journey
After submitting my application, things kicked off with a relaxed chat with Pieter, the CMI manager. Nothing stiff or corporate, just an honest conversation to see if our visions matched. Tip from me to you: do your homework. Reading their story, understanding their values and preparing solid interview answers gave me a huge confidence boost.
First days on the job
Edgard & Cooper makes sure you feel welcome even before you officially start. My first day included
🐾 A warm personal welcome from my mentor.
🐾 A tour through the shelves (aka pet foodie heaven).
🐾 One-on-one intro chats with the entire BPI team. CMI is a mini-
team within this bigger group, but there’s no strict hierarchy.
Everyone is approachable, helpful and secretly very competitive
(think stealing easter eggs out of each others baskets during team
buildings)
Together with a delicious welcome breakfast in week one, it made me feel part of the team rather than “just the intern.”
After a month, I became in sync with the systems, tools and projects, but there’s always something new to learn, and there’s always someone willing to help.
A day in the life of a CMI intern
8:30–8:45: Grab coffee, catch up with the team, check Slack & emails.
Morning: Project work + occasional check-in with my mentor.
Lunch: Often followed by a dog walk (the best reset) and chats outside.
Afternoon: More project work, usually fuelled by something sweet, because BPI is a cake-powered department.
Some of my projects
🐾 Running quantitative & qualitative interviews
🐾 Using Conveo, our AI tool to scale interview insights
🐾 Testing new packaging & campaign concepts from the Disobedient (our in-house creative team)
🐾 Turning analyses into clear presentations for stakeholders
Challenges & growth
Not everything is sunshine and dog cuddles. Sometimes data breaks, sometimes presenting is nerve-racking. But I learned to ask for help early, think critically and stay calm when things go off-track. The “make mistakes, get better” mindset is very real here.
Summing Up My Internship in One Quote
✨A crazy, fun and wildly educational internship with an even crazier (in the best way) team. Add dogs in the office, and honestly, it’s no surprise I didn’t want to leave.✨
