Mid-weight Copywriter
London (Hybrid, 2-3 days in-office)
Are you a highly–conceptual London–based mid–weight copywriter who is
comfortable having your face licked by some of your coworkers? If so, gosh,
do we have the job for you!
In addition to the occasional face lickings, you’ll be part of The Disobedient, Edgard & Cooper’s creative studio which is tasked with telling the rest of the world what over a million pets already know: That Edgard & Cooper makes amazing nutritious pet food. And somehow – because you’ve always been so talented this way – you’ll tell people about our nutritious pet food while remaining entertaining, funny, memorable, surprising, and other adjectives that we can’t think of because you’re not here to help yet.
Your work will be thinking up ideas that grow fame for the Edgard & Cooper brand using everything from packaging, events, and in–store signage to digital, TV, and outdoor campaigns. And you’ll be working alongside designers, strategists, and marketers (and yes, dogs) that are all hungry to do some of the best work of their careers.
Responsibilities
One of our mantras is, “The worst thing you can do is everything we ask.” In other words, The Disobedient is an ideal home for creatives who are proactive self–starters – the kind of creatives that don’t limit their thinking to what they’re tasked with. All that said, there are plenty of things we do ask:
- Think up achingly smart or tremendously stupid concepts, then bring them
to life with human–sounding copy across packaging, campaigns, social,
digital, and beyond. Yes, we already kind of said that. We’re just saying it
again so you know it’s important. - Bring humour and personality into our communications in a way that feels
natural. I mean, c’mon – it’s pets. If you can’t find humour and personality
there, where can you? - Collaborate with designers, strategists, and marketers.
- Adapt tone and style to fit different channels while keeping our brand voice
distinct. - Push for creative excellence while staying open to feedback and iteration.
Skills & Capabilities
If you’re a really good photographer, your skills will come in handy. If you dabble in editing, or have an encyclopedic knowledge of music, those talents are useful too. Considering the breadth of ways we’re bringing Edgard & Cooper to life, odds are good that any talent or passion you have could find a home here as well. So be sure to tell us what you’re doing wherein you’re not writing. In the meantime, it would also probably be helpful to check a few of these boxes:
- 3–5 years of copywriting experience in an agency or in-house creative
team. - A sharp eye for detail, language, and cultural nuance.
- A natural sense of humour and ability to write in a way that feels effortless.
- Strong conceptual thinking—with an ability to craft ideas, not just words.
- And to create marketing that doesn’t sound like marketing. The kind that has friends, neighbors, and people at other pet food companies saying, “Have you seen what Edgard & Cooper is up to now?”
