My story as an intern
My name is Anneleen, the current talent intern, and I’m here to give you a sneak peek into my world. I started this internship in March and I’ll be sticking around for three months. It actually seemed long before I started, but oh well, time flies when you are having fun!
I'm studying Business Administration, with a focus on HR and Organizational Management. A few years back, I worked at Edgard & Cooper as a Brand Activator, and ever since then, I've been a big fan. They have an amazing mission and vision. Pets aren't just pets to us; they're cherished family members. And just as one of our values, choose right not easy, the importance of sustainability is highlighted.
My journey kicked off with an interview with Bieke, our talented acquisition specialist and my mentor. I must admit, I was quite nervous. The second round, a competency-based interview with Laura, our HR manager, didn't exactly calm my nerves either. However, despite the overdose on stress hormones, everything fell into place seamlessly, and here we are today.
My first day, March 7th, was nerve-wracking. The first days were about learning the ropes, getting used to tools like Notion and Teamtailor. Now, I'm deep into my projects, focused on improving our hiring process and HR metrics.
Wondering what a typical day looks like? Here's a peek:
6:30am: Rise and shine! Off to the office today (sometimes I can work from home too). After my morning routine, I hop in the car off to Kortrijk.
8:30am: Starting with admin tasks—checking emails, replying to candidates, and browsing hiring platforms like Indeed and LinkedIn.
10:00am: Meeting time: in the beginning, some things sounded like dog-language. Good thing everything is falling into place!
12:00am: Lunch with the team—chatting about anything and swapping a few cat and dog stories.
1:00pm: Back to work! Diving into my hiring project and getting things done.
2:30pm: Shadowing session with Bieke: observing is key. Bieke is a superstar in interviewing, so watch and learn!
3:00pm: Looking at my deadlines, whoops, trusting on my planningskilss for now.
5:30pm: Time to go home, hoping the traffic is okay 🤞
