Our Digital Product Squad helps building and maintaining our D2C e-commerce platform, where everything happens at the speed of a click. With an average of 1,000 orders per day, our tech wizards manage to provide our customers with a top-class e-commerce experience by maintaining system performance and implementing improvements.
We asked them a few questions to give you some insights in a day in the life of the team.
What makes you proud of your team?
Henri: "The way we provide our customers with a top-class e-commerce experience. We try to make their day every day!"
Lara: "We are not your average web shop. To give you an idea: we are building and maintaining a system that has to process an average of 1,000 orders a day."
What is it like working for Edgard & Cooper?
Lara: "Thanks to our horizontal structure, we feel connected to our manager, Henri. We can approach him spontaneously to ask questions or discuss matters that concern us. Given the short feedback cycle, we also feel free to make independent decisions and propose ideas to the team."
Thomas: "We use modern cloud-based technologies to build and maintain modern B2C ecommerce solutions. We learn something new every day!"
Why should someone join your team?
Thomas: "We are encouraged to use our full potential and push our limits. It motivates us to put our best paw forward and keep working to make a meaningful impact and help Edgard & Cooper grow. Oh, and no timesheets!”
Henri: "You don't have to tick all the boxes in terms of work experience and knowledge of technologies. We are looking for motivated team members with a growth mindset who want to learn every day. While solid experience is a plus, we value learning on the job."
Any classic stereotype about purrgrammers that isn't true?
Lukas: "Developers are often characterised as nerds who only program, play games and live on pizza and soft drinks. Yes, there are similarities, but for example Thomas seems to be the ambassador of blueberries lately (they’re high in antioxidants!) and I also like to take care of my geckos in my spare time."
Henri: "But to be honest, a geeky, tech-savvy mindset is essential for our Full Stack role. Make sure your imaginary tail is wagging when you think about experimenting with the latest web technologies."
Are there any team rituals?
Lara: "A platform architect, a functional analyst and two developers enter a bar and… Aha! You mean our Daily Stand-Up? It’s a short 15 minute meeting to discuss the day before, what we are working on today and if there are things we should keep in mind. Every two weeks, we have our Sprint Review & Planning meeting. It is not uncommon to hear laughter coming from the meeting room, as Henri is perhaps the inventor of every dad joke you have ever heard."
Thomas: "We have a hybrid home working policy. That means we work together in the office at least one day a week. On the other days we keep in touch via Slack."
Viktor: "On office days, we strengthen our team atmosphere with a game of ping pong, I'm the paddle master!"
Thomas: "Oh and our last teambuilding was last Friday, we were invited by Lara, our ‘DPS mom’ for spaghetti & quiz time."
